Fundraising
Community fundraising helps young people to take responsibility and make decisions to help and support those around them.
Finding out more about different organisations and individuals teaches them to appreciate what they have. Also, that they have an ability, from a very young age, to empower change and help others.
At West Drayton Academy, we are proud to be a part of Global Park 70 in partnership with ActionAid UK.
ActionAid UK is a charitable organisation that works towards creating a more just and equal world by providing support and resources to communities affected by poverty and injustice.
Their efforts focus on various issues such as women's rights, education, healthcare, and disaster response, with the aim of empowering individuals and communities to overcome the challenges they face and improve their lives. Through fundraising, advocacy, and direct intervention, ActionAid UK strives to make a lasting impact and contribute to a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
We have many events throughout the year that help us to raise money for the children and the families that we sponsor at West Drayton Academy.
These range from cake sales, help at home week, non- uniform days, fireworks night and our annual Lark in the Park.
In 2022/23 we raised £2155.90. If you wish to know more about ActionAid you can find the information on their website
Children in Need is a charity organisation that aims to support and improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. Through funding grants to various projects and organisations, Children in Need helps address issues such as poverty, illness, disability, and mental health, ensuring that every child has a chance to thrive and reach their full potential.
At West Drayton Academy we have had many different events to raise money. This year we held a pyjama day that raised a wonderful £271.
Red Nose Day is a charity event organised by Comic Relief that aims to raise funds and awareness for those living in poverty. The funds generated from Red Nose Day go towards supporting projects that address issues such as education, healthcare, and social justice, both in the UK and internationally.
Last year we raised £234.50 by dressing up and wearing our red noses.
